Swiss Roll

Swiss Roll Large at Crema House in Ottawa is a full-size Swiss roll from our pasticceria: a thin sheet of soft sponge cake spread with cream and rolled into a spiral. The roll comes in Chocolate, Espresso, Pistachio or Vanilla, and it is sold whole rather than by the slice. Cut into eight to ten rounds it serves a table, and the spiral pattern makes it look like more work than it was. The sponge is light and the cream is not heavily sweetened, so it suits afternoon tea more than dessert after dinner. It contains wheat, egg and dairy; the Pistachio roll contains nuts.
