Caffè Shake at Crema House is a coffee milkshake: a double shot of espresso blended thick with vanilla ice cream and finished with whipped cream, made to order in Ottawa. The espresso is Blasercafé Marrone, a Swiss-roasted blend of 70% arabica and 30% robusta, so the coffee flavour holds its own against the ice cream. It is blended until smooth and frothy, then served tall with a straw and a long spoon. The drink is sweet and cold but carries the full caffeine of two shots, so it is a dessert with a lift. It is a summer alternative to an Affogato, which uses the same pairing without the blending. Have it at our tables on Clyde Avenue with a Persian cookie.
