The Amaretto Tart Cake at Crema House is a whole almond tart made for sharing, baked in our Ottawa pasticceria. Amaretto is the Italian almond liqueur, and its bitter-almond flavour is worked through the filling. The base is a pastry shell in the manner of an Italian crostata, crisp at the edge and tender underneath. It contains almonds, so it is not suitable for anyone with a nut allergy, and it is not vegan. Serve it cool or at room temperature; it is sweet but not heavy. Whole cakes need a day's notice, and pickup is at 14-1400 Clyde Avenue. It is one of the Italian pastry Ottawa classics on our cake list. It pairs well with an Espresso or a pot of Classic Black tea.
